    3260 funny fonts

Anybody have any idea what may cause this. (see attachment) It is on a af3260. I happens intermittently. Tried the "print directly to printer" and it worked fine. Switched it back to "spool print document....." and it was buggered again. Then later tried it with "spool print document...." and it was fine again. A different pc is doing the same. Then printed the same doc on the same driver, but on the port of a PRO1106 and it comes out fine.

    All the files were pdf's

I've seen this before a couple of times. There are a couple of things that can cause this:

    1. Corrupt file: when the PDF was created something hosed up in the distiller and so the output to a print driver gets conflicting information, usually this happens when printing with a PCL driver. If the source file is available, have the PDF re-created, or if not and there's access to something more substantial than Adobe Reader have the file re-saved as a PostScript file and then re-open and let the Distiller re-create the PDF. Usually this clears up the issue.

    2. Bad spooling on the PC's part, sometimes there's a font used in the PS world that doesn't exist natively on the PC so it tries to insert its own, with varying success.

    3. Print driver: depending on the application, some PDFs just like having that PostScript chip in the machine and a PostScript driver to work correctly. Try updating the driver or, if possible, use PostScript driver.

Or if you're using PCL6 try the PCL5c

Try deleting any .sho files in c:\windows\system32\spool\printers folder. They are hidden system files so enable "show hidden files" before you look there.
I agree with jomama, try different driver I've seen that before and that fixed it. I've heard PCL6 isn't as good as PCL5e.

The customer is using RPCS. The pcl 6 driver works fine but then the colors are off. They are not as close to the image on the pc screen as with the RPCS. I will give the pcl5 a shot tomorrow. Thanks

I would update everything, the driver and all the firmware.

What program are they printing from ?
