    Ricoh 3035 SC601

I have sold several of these as Gestetner Dsm 735's. I have had the typical issues such as sc990 and so forth. Some I have fixed with drum replacement and some with HDD replacement. I have recently serviced a machine under a service agreement replacing the drum & DV, transfer cleaning blade & performing a full PM. I ran all the appropriate sp modes after DV replacement. It worked fine for 3 weeks. Out of the blue the machine popped an sc601. I went out pulled all boards and reseated all connectors and ribbon cables. It worked for a day then the error came back and I am unable to reset it. Needless to say the customer is pissed and I am looking like a dumbass. Are any boards compatible to the 2045? Also in consulting other local venders and posts on this sight, I keep hearing about firmware updates or flashing the firmware. This is often recommended as a kind of silver bullet for unexplained issues. I have never performed this procedure on any machine including 2045's, or 2060's. Some please be kind enough to describe this procedure and all items needed to perform it. Please describe it in detail, or please direct me to the info needed. I am an experienced tech servicing copiers & printers since 1991, but this machine is kicking my ass. Please be gentle with me!

This may seem silly, but check the thermistors.

I had a smaller machine (MP2550?) a few months ago which was throwing up all sorts of codes (NOT fuser). One of the thermistors had been bent by a jam and then "reformed" by a tech, however, the metal contact strips to the sensor were broken and arcing. As I recall, I saw boot and communication errors.

Also check the plug from the BCU to the scanner (Left Rear)
