    Lanier ld016 won't wake up

This is one of those that only happens sometimes, so it is impossible to recreate, but the customer wants to make an issue of it. She says that some mornings when she comes in, the machine will not boot up when she touches the main button, like it should, and she has to turn the main power off and back on. That is the issue and that is all she could tell me. Firmware was upgraded a month ago. Any ideas?

I've got the Ricoh Parts & Service manual for this copier, you want a complimentary copy of it?

Did they have this problem before you upgraded the firmware, or is that why you upgraded it?

It was upgraded by another tech, I think for the same problem.

Would it be an option to set the Energy Save timer to "off"? That way it would just stay powered up all the time. Don't think an LD-016 would use that much power. I don't suppose you could have a bad energy saver button on the control panel...?

I'll check with the other techs and see if anyone has an idea. That's going to be tough to figure out if you don't catch it in the act.

I'd say that if you haven't taken the panel apart to check the board inside, it may be a good idea to do so. Sometimes customers forget to tell you they've poured half a cup of coffee over it moments before the problem began.....

Then of course, you can get the pleasure of charging them for it too...

First, thanks for the offer Paul, but I have one, thanks anyway.
Went back to check on it, as I have been holding the ticket for a week, she said it has not done it again. I gave her my card and told her to call me if it happens again.
