Ricoh 2060 Overtoning/sc342

Hi All have a doozy of a call at the moment.
Call started of with sc901 mechanical counter error.Turns out it was the BCU.Two days later call comes back in for dark copies/backgrounding.I have replaced the dev and drum/blade and brush.Go to initalise the dev and get sc342.I have replaced thee td sensor and the BCU again all to no avail.Next im thinking it might be id/potential sensor.I forgot to mention i didnt replace the correct IC chip for the BCU straight away but its there now.Any ideas suggestions woukd be great.

When you replace the BCU-board you should remove the BCU NVRAM from the defective board and place it on the new board. All engine settings are stored in the NVRAM. When you replace BCU-Boards or Controller Boards, always backup the NVRAM to an SD-card.

I would replace developer and perform developer initialisation and process control.

Checked the point to point and both the TD sensor and total counter plug into CN223 on the BCU!....... Coincidence??????

They also boh connect via CN741 which I assume is a connector in the loom.

I would check these BEFORE I changed the dev again!! you will need to change SP2208 to 0 and then look for a reading at SP2223 and 2906-1 (READ THE MANUAL re SC342!!). As long as these are not at 0.00 you should be able to at least attempt dev initialisation but MAY have to change the dev again if toner has been added.

Hi guys sorry for the late response.
The call took 7 hours but figured it out.
Replaced the toner end sensor on the dev unit which fixed sc342.
Ran 2000 copies through and they started going light.Replaced the toner supply clutch all good.I think when the previous tech replaced the BCU he pinched some wires to the toner end/toner supply clutch.Once again thanks for all the ideas

Did the SC901 occur during a call, or was it called in by the customer?

May be worth trying the old BICU in another (or the same) machine... If the wires were trapped that may have been the original SC901???

Could save you money if you ever need another one.

The customer did log a call for sc 901 and it was th bcu board.
