Aficio 2018d - Reset Admin Password

We were recently given a Aficio 2018d copier by a company who went out of business. They changed the admin password on the copier and now I cannot login and make any changes.

Can anyone tell me how to reset the admin password?

Log in as supervisor, no password. Go to user tools / system settings / administrator tools / admin password.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I tried logging in with that account and no password and it doesn't let me in there.

          Thanks,

Yes, this is on the web image monitor. I typed in the IP address of the copier into my web browser and get the status information. Then I tried to click on Administrator Mode and get the login/password and I have tried the default admin account with the default password (that I have since forgotten since I tried it last week). Tried supervisor with no password as well and no luck.

              Thanks,
              Fred

Did you try a blank username and password as password? These are the default admin credentials.

Nope i had only tried admin / password. But I just tried just password and no username and it still didn't work either.

                  Thanks,

You can also try to use the default credentials with telnet. If that doesn't work, then a tech has to reset the password in the service mode.

It will have to be reset through service mode. There is no supervisor login on this model. This uses a Key Op code, not a login and password we find on the newer models.

So how do I get into Service Mode? I have done this on another Ricoh before, but I haven't been able to find out how to get in there for this model.

If I need to purchase a manual somewhere, then if I could find out the correct manual to purchase that describes the process I would be eternally grateful.

                        Thanks,

                        Fred

I pm'd you with the method. I don't want to publicly display it, just remember you do it at your own risk.

Thanks for that. Not a problem. I think I can handle it. I can't complain about screwing up a free copy machine though.

                            Thanks,

You're welcome, I don't think you'll have any problems. Here's a link to a manual download site that one of the moderators pushes.
