Gestetner 3227 (Aficio 270) Scanner Setup

    Hi!

We have a used Gestetner 3227 (which I'm told is identical to the Ricoh 270).

We would like to be able to use the scanner feature, but I can find no information on just how to do this. I can only find the copy reference manuals, and pcl/postscript drivers. Nothing that tells me how to use or setup the scanner, or store print jobs for that matter.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful! This would save us from having to buy a dedicated scanner.

    -Thanks!

Either get an up to date copier or a dedicated scanner - you have to have another board installed into the copier that uses a separate IP address and network lead to the print option. You also need scan router - Ricoh has stopped supporting it. If you can find scan router, its a pain to use and set up.

If you already have the print/scan option installed, you may just want to have a tech come out and setup scanrouter for you. It's not officially supported anymore and some offices may not do it. You may want to talk to the service manager, it's a charge call so money talks. Just remember, if you get it set up and you have issues down the road it will be a separate charge to correct it. As long as it's loaded on a dedicated server and you know some of the basics of how it connects (ask the tech for a quick lesson) you can probably solve most issues. It's a good option, will scan in PDF or Tiff, just not as reliable or robust as SMB scanning available on the newer models.
