AF2060 Faint copies

Happy new everyone, i have an ricoh AF2060 aboard a cruise ship that has a problem with copy quality.The problem is faint copies, i have not boarde the vessel cause it will be in tomorrow.Can anyone give any hints as what i should check first. Also i have a AF6500 thats leaking toner some where around the hopper area.Thanking you in advance.

Depends on what the meter is. Could be something as simple as Toner Bottle improperly set. Failing Toner Motor. Expired Developer. Old Drum. Dirty LD glass. Poor Corona unit.

Could be the machine needs a PM? Got service records?

First print the SMC SP590-4

Are there any SC codes?... Take action as required.

Print the SMC 5990-2.

Check SP2223 Is it at or near 2.5 v? the higher the reading the less toner there is in the dev unit, if it's too high the fault is a toner supply problem.

Check SP3103. Is Vsg at or near 4.0v and Vsp at or below 0.5v? This will tell you if toner is getting to the drum.

Is the mag roller clean? (silver) If not scrub using the dev.

If there is toner at the drum the problem could be transfer related, although thats quite rare on this model.

Is the copy pale all the way across?

When was the last service done?

Does the fault occur when copying and printing? (assuming the machine is set as a printer).

Thats just a start on the AF2060.

Check the seals around the hopper and the angle of the swinging section of the bottle holder, may require adjustment. Are they usinf OEM toner? Is the bottle holder broken?
