You can eliminate the dev and drum units by running them in service mode. The only thing I have not found out how to run is the transfer belt. I have a 3235C which squeals like a piggy. Nice idea about cheating the door. Why didn't I think of that?

Usually this sound caused by Transfer Unit. BW - quite, color - terrible sound. First step - replace a TX unit Cleaning unit. If didn't help. THen step 2 - replace TX unit.

Only use OEM toner in this machine. The generic throws off the TD sensor and overloads the DV unit. That is why you got the noise and the codes.

Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

              Hi
I'd take a look at the encoder roller assy. in the transfer unit. The symptoms sound very familiar; ie, works fine on b/w, but plays up in colour. Is the colour reg completely out of bounds when you make a colour print or copy? The encoder wheel on the end of the roller gets dirty. You can try to clean it,but you will end up replacing it.
