    MP 6000 hole punch mystery

    Hi Guys,
I'm reviving an old thread of mine to see if anybody has experienced the same fault.

I have eight MP 6000's with SR970 finishers at the one location with Enhanced Lock Print installed and they all have the same trouble.
Randomly, if the operator asks for 2 holes they get 4 holes instead.
Remove ELP from the copier and the punch works as normal.

Anybody else out there in Ricohland seen the same problem?

Never happened to me but sounds like a possible firmware problem.
Did you tried the latest firmware for this finisher?

Yep, that was the first thing we tried.

If I remember well I heard about a similar problem some time ago. It never happened to me...lucky hmmm but if a recall right one other tech fought with this and at the end was the board that controls the punch unit heads. After each punching job it was randomly rotating the punching head... If you have access to another SR970 that works fine you can try the punch unit or just the board. It worth a try.

If it was just one copier doing it I would be looking for a electronic/mechanical problem with the finisher, but all eight units at the one site??? even I'm not that unlucky!

All eight???? The is more than weird and it's a good case for Ricoh Tech support....but before you call them install the newest firmware on all 8 units because this will be the first thing that they will ask.
