On another 3800c I am trying to set up scanning and cannot figure out where to create a frequent box folder that shows up on the display where you can have a person's name or department, etc and set the path. On the new machines it's in the address book but can anyone tell me where it is on the 3800c? I know it has to be there...I need to set the path also so I figure it's in the same menu place as the display box like the new ones.

ok this is Savin SLP38c with Scanner Assembly added to it. As OLD as this model is I doubt it does Scan to FOLDER (SMB) You are probably looking at setting up Scan to Email or Scanrouter software. Scan to email probably easier, Scanrouter is old and not supported by Ricoh anymore. You can search the forums for the download and the PDF guides on installation if you are brave. AFAIK You can only Scan to one PC with Scanrouter Lite. -
I had to installed Scanrouter lite again, she had to get a new PC. She is ok with just being able to scan to her one PC, she was doing this before. I have everything set for IP addresses, gateway, subnet. However she is has dynamic and not static IPs set up and I belive it has to be static to work. qUESTION: Maybe it can be set for static just for the 3800c? Second Question: Also, where do you go on the menu to set up a user name box that shows up on the display, can't find it so far, I know it's there but there is no address book on these older models so I can't figure it out, esp. with her standing there rushing me.Comment

Scanrouter SHOULD Put the Username on the Screen FOR YOU. There is no interaction. When it come to Scanrouter with the MFP except turning on the File transfer Destination option. Scanrouter tells the MFP the Hotkey, IP and everything
Yes I recommend her PC use a Static IP. Since she is on a network just give her one that is close to the IP the copier uses. Plug in the Subnet, Gateway, and DNS info.
to find this click Start, Run, Cmd, ipconfig /all
above is for XP
IF there is no Hotkeys on the Screen then Scanrouter is not communicating properly or you only set Up Destinations and not Users in Scanrouter.Comment

Thanks so much Vulkor, I may end up oweing you a few beers! I don't know if she wants to go static, I think she has to be dynamic because she shares her PC with 4 others for an internet connection, she is a small business with 5 PCs. I think she has always used dynamic becuse she used to lose her commection every once in a while and then it would find it all by itself. So can I make it static just for her PC to the Ricoh 3800c? Is that possible or does she have to assign IPs to all the PCs for this to work? I am just getting into this and am not real experienced at setting up staic IPs, etc. but have to solve this for her is possible. I do know how to find the IPs, ping, etc. Have set up on serverless several times now but not used to Scanrouter yet. Any help greatly appreciated!Comment

See Link here hotComm FAQ: Assign Static IP Address (Windows XP) That is all about setting up a static IP in windows XP.
If you look at the last image and look at her machine if it is up to date there will be another tab besides General. Its Alternate IP. You can have DHCP and Alternate IP at same time I THINK. I really don't see how a static IP will screw her network connection up as long as you have the IP that is not being used by the router or other PCs. The Subnet, Gateway and DNS information programmed in.Comment

Thanks again for the help, it turned out that we did not have to change the dynamic to static or anything like that. We just needed to direct the scans to a windows folder, we were saving to the intray. Also the folder may not have been shared out properly. Her new PC had some folders re-created and some were not or not fully. Now I feel as though I learned a thing or two, hope this info helped you also. Steve in MDComment

Ahh yeah Saving to the InTray. Big waste of time. Sorry you found this out after such a long run at it. Glad you found it. The In Tray is supposed to work with Desktop Binder I think, but I've never gotten Desktop Binder and Scanrouter to communicate.Comment

Should be too Hard. Turn on Public Folder Sharing, turn off Password Requirements, Make a new folder called Scan or Whatever you want to call it.
Put this new folder in the Public Folder, which C:\users\Public ...
I can't remember if this model BROWSES the network, but you should be able to scan to it now. Unless they have Mcafee, Norton or something else blocking network access. You can try using the account username, if the account has been renamed it WON'T WORK. I usually try the username Administrator and no Password, usually works if they have a user account setup. Many people don't bother locking down that account.Comment
