1022 tray 3 trys to feed when no paper in!!

Hi Guys,

As the title says "the machine will think the tray has paper in and trys to feed from it.

This is on tray 3 and when the empty cassette is inserted into the machine, it gets lifted for about half a second then says that the paper is present, then if the cusomer trys to copy they get a jam, i have swopped over the sensor that the paper detect arm interupts and still had the same fault.

Any of you guys had this, i think it may be the board.

Did you check the harness? Maybe it's damaged somewhere. Maybe one of the wires is touching ground? Strange things happen when wires are connected to ground when they're not supposed to.

have you tried input mode yet? i cant tell you which one it is but as its a sensor it will be somewhere in the service manual. after that look for the harness as eric said or i'm afraid point to point diagram for the signal.

have you swapped casettes to check its not the cassette/lift up?

The first thing i did was to swap the cassettes over followed by the sensors and the fault still remained on the tray 3, the tray does not even make it to the detect sensor and still says it has paper in.

The one thing i did notice is that there was a bit of paper behind the tray, this may have caused excessive strain on the lift up motor and may have caused a problem, but normally sc 503 would have been generated.
