MPC5000 PCU's

So what's the verdict on using the MPC5000 K PCU's in place of the color ones ?

I read a thread on here with people saying the USA version you just had to mod the connector on the back like with the MPC4500 but I tried one today and it did not work. Just gave me a set PCU message.

You can still swap over the harness but you've got to be sooooooooo careful getting the harness out. I gently wiggle it off with my blunt nose pliers then use some instant grab superglue. Works well for me.

So is there wiring differences between the color and black now and not just the corner on the connector ?

I believe, (and this info is from listening to another tech) that if you follw the wiring on the drum units, you will find two wires that are reversed between balxk and color drum units. I think you may still have to grinf the corner of the connecter and remove that little metal pin.

That's the tread that has me confused. In the end it looked like people decided the European versions needed wire swapping and USA only needed the connector corner modified.

So I want to know what is correct for the USA do I need to swap wires or not ?

get an old colour PCU and a new Black PCU and look at the wires - its not rocket science

here in the UK you need to change the 2 end wires over on the connector if you dont you get set pcu so i think you need t change the wire over
