If this happens only when using adf then it has to be a very small mark or dirty spot on the scan glass. If you do double sided thru adf (2-2) what is the result? Is the mark on 1 side or both? Sometimes even the smallest hair or residue of tippex can cause lines like these.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

        Definitely optics, sorry.

You can tell because a) it only happens from the ADF and b) the edges are erased.

Why don't you try flipping your slit glass end for end and see if lines go to the other end of the page.

I've had dust get inside the DF CIS for the back side even though they are supposed to be sealed.
Managed to blast it out with a can of compressed air.

I agree, definitely something on the optics, slit glass to be exact. Try putting the copy with the lines on the glass as if you were going to make a regular copy off of the glass. The lines should line up with whatever is on the slit glass. Shine a flashlight, it may be something black that you can't see well. Good luck!
