    Sc 224 on Mpc2500

    Hello everyone.

I'm having an issue on a Mpc2500 where, on average, once a month it throws up an Sc 224 code. Which it tells me that there is a Lazer sync detection error on magenta, start position....
Now I have already had the lazer unit out and given it a good looking over and cleaned the shutter to make sure it operates correctly. What bugs me is the fact that it does this so infrequently

If any of you have any ideas on this, I would appreciate any input.
    Many thanks in advance

This error is a Laser Synchronization Detection Signal Error so would not seem likely that the Laser Shutter could cause this error; a sticking shutter would cause low image density (Technical Service Bulletin 20). The diagnostic points towards a defective Laser Synchronization Detector, defective LDB or defective BICU. Is it possible to swap one of the LDB's or Detector Bd's to see if the problem moves to one of the other colours? Downloading the latest firmware is always a good first step as this rules out some flaky anomally there.

Thanks Gary, I too believe that the firmware is a good starting point, and will pop in and do this. Not sure about fiddling around in the lazer unit, but if push comes to shove, then this may be an option...Cheers
