Different btw standard compression & higher compression
The best way for someone to see the differences would be to scan the same original twice, using both. Then, compare both using an higher magnification - you'll most likely find some differences.
On some machines, the higher compression uses jpeg compression (leading to compression artifacts), whereas the standard compression uses lossless compression (with no artifacts).
On other machines, both use jpeg compression, but higher compression means more artifacts than standard compression.
Typically you'll find no difference between both unless you're using some magnification to reveal said artifacts.
