I have a SR5000 and the stapler will not go to home position. It continouslt goes back and forth for several minutes and then will come to rest no where near home postiion. I have changed home postion sensors including the stapler rotation sensors( all 3 are the same photosensor) , tried a different board and even the stapler motor. anyhow no luck. Finisher only has this issue when trying to staple?

That's the only problem with these bloody things. They can show a jam in a particular place and then the fault is somewhere different in the finisher. Try replacing the staple movement motor and harness next. Replace the finisher board at the same time too, if the motor is at fault it could have blown the new board just like the old one. What machine do you have this connected to? Also, have you updated the firmware lately? It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Just throwing this out there...
If NOTHING else works, just for s&g's, try a memory engine clear (print non-default data first). I've had 3 machines in the last month with bizarre and erratic behavior (false jams, sc codes, etc). Everything checked out fine in input/output modes, and troubleshooting and part swapping went nowhere. As a last resort (nothing left to lose) I performed the engine clear, and immediately the machines were OK, no problems at all.Don't take that toner with me!Comment

Im sure you have checked all the basics but have you checked the bar which along which the stapler runs? As many ricoh sorters from all size of machines of the years have if the bar is dry or dirty behaved erratically. Recently I have seen and heard of some new sorters even brand new needing a little launa oil to smooth things. Im guessing the person who applies the oil must have had a holiday and no cover
If not that then it could well be the loom or conector which can be a bugger to fault find.Comment
