SC 819 on a MP500, After i fit a new controller board i get an SC 998 that is persist

    Hi people,

I am a technician and I have an MP5000 it came up with the error SC819 sometimes back was advised by a colleague to change the controller board and the NVRAMS as well, after i did that the machine now has an SC998 that is persistent i am wondering what might be the problem, is there anything else that i need change or something that am missing?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Much Regards,
    Walter.

      SC998 on MP5000B

      Hi thanks for the response,
The copier does not hold any RAM,HDD or SD card so it cant be that they are not installed correctly and about the software issue someone was suggesting i upgrade the controller firmware, was just wondering how i will do that when the machine doesn't go past the SC998 error (i think i can get the firmware fro tessa).

      Regards,
      Walter W

I had this SC819 on a machine recently. It turned out, after a little investigation and interrogation, that it only happened from two PC's in the building that sent certain jobs to this machine. Otherwise it worked fine.....I rolled the ball in the direction of their IT bod's.......

          Hi cableGuy,
The Machine in question is basic copier, i.e has no printer/scanner feature installed

Are you sure there is no dimm on the controller? I would try new firmware, otherwise try a controller.

Yep no DIMM is installed, got me wondering if the machine has to have a preinstalled memory unit probably 256MB? Not sure about that. Usually i upgrade firmware from the web image monitor connecting to the machine using a crossover cable, cant do that now because the machine stalls after displaying the error SC998. Any other way to Upgrade the firmware with that error displaying??

Have you still got the bits you removed from the machine?

Check the dip switches are the same as the old board and is there a SD card in one of the slots of the old board?......

I would update firmware using an SD card, follow instructions in manual, ie: leave front door open when updating

I am not familiar with this particular machine, but I do know that some controllers have a very small eprom( its like an 8 pin) that you must remove from the old controller and install onto the new one. If this is not done you will get a SC819. Just a thought.

I assume that you have follow steps on replacing controller and nvram...
upon having a SC 819... have we upgrade the firmware? perhaps this may solve the problem....
can we try to afix the old controller and nvram and make an isolation from there after backing up nvram data... put the new nvram then upload and see whats the result or place the new controller and afix the old nvram.....

                          good luck sir...
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

Have you also checked if you ordered the correct controller board !

There are 4 different boards for this model dippending on wether yours has a black & white or colour scanner
