    Savin 8045e dumping toner.

I have a Savin 8045e dumping toner all over the place, brought machine back to shop and cleaned up, delivered repaired machine to customer and did some test prints and they were very dark, did some sky shots to burn toner and copies did get better. This machine has a history of being very messy and lots of toner spilled inside. I was thinking the end user was probably a fixer person and was getting into the machine a taking the toner out looking for paper etc but now I wonder.

    Thanks for your help.

Sounds normal for that model. Dirty pigs. Probably needs new developer, a clean mag roller, the new style toner, all the SP changes issued via TSB, the entire toner recycling section cleaned out, and a new drum ground bearing, and that should last 20-50K.
Don't take that toner with me!

Also drum seals for where the toner enters the DV and Drum units. If the Drum unit is pulled out a lot these can wear out. But yeah these machines are DIRTY!

I agree but make sure to get the new style mag roller. These models WERE dirty pigs but with the new style toner/mag roller and the SP changes from the bulletin, if done correctly they run nice and clean.

Also if the box has more than 600k you need to replace the pcu as an assembly.

Thanks for all the info but I am unable to locate the SP changes referred to. I am looking in the tsrc site under service bulletins. Can you direct me to the location of the changes?

Thanks again for all your help

Sorry to bump a 9 month old thread, but does anyone have a copy of this service bulletin or a list of the changes that need to be made? I have a LD245 with a bad toner dumping problem, and I cant seem to find this bulletin in the RFG knowledge base anymore.

That bulletin isn't for the same machine as yours. If yours is pissing toner out, replace the dev unit seals, service the PCU and replace the developer. Also, make sure the toner hopper mylars haven't fallen off, that'll make them run dirty too, as well as give false toner end conditions.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                Hit it.

And make sure that it's got the correct toner in it.

I knew it! Damn toner pixies!

Thanks for the response, guys. I was under the mistaken impression that the LD245 and the 8045 were a direct cross. I know better now. Figure I'll start by replacing the developer and adjusting the 2201-1 bias a little. I'll let you know what happens.

Believe it not there are 4 Mylar paddles in hopper that come off and cause both dirty machine and overtoning. Only way to find out is to get your Hands dirty and take hopper apart, but if it has been dirty for a long time it is a good bet.
