    2045 firmware update

    hi

i need to know how to update the firmware on a 2045.

i bought a pc card adapter pcmcia card where you can just fit an sd card in the back of it. ive loaded the correct firmware on the romdata file. put the pc card adapter in the back of a controller, switched machine on and nothing, machine works like normal.

you will need a very small card i think, 8-16-32Mb will do the job, so the machine can recognize it

Don't load the firmware into a romdata folder for that model, load it directly on the card. You only use the romdata folder on newer GW models that utilize an SD slot. I've never tried it that way (an SD card in a pcm adapter). Make sure the SD card is not locked to read only.

You will probably need the Ricoh memory card explorer to write the .bin files to the card if it will even work.

It's been a while since I've done this, but I do know that the pcm card I used in the past was 4 meg. It may be the only capacity the machine will recognize.

You need a 4MB flash memory card. Place the .BIN-file on the card using Ricoh Memory Card Explorer. When you place the card in the slot and switch the machine on, the machine will enter the firmware update process. The ROMDATA-folder is used on SD-cards which you use with recent models.
