    MPC4500 with Fax Module

This is a really weird one I hope someone can help on.
This machine has copying, printing and faxing. Copying and printing work fine. Fax transmission works fine. When receiving tho, It wont print it out. It wont print a journal, a fax, fax parameter list, nothing fax. The Rx status shows that it was received OK and there is a message below that says "printing" and the Receive light is on. Nothing prints from the fax.
I have cleared the SRAM, the bit switches and even reset it to factory defaults. Same thing. The transmitting fax shows no error and the receipt of the fax seem fine, it just wont print. ??

Do you have an FCU from a showroom machine you can try in it?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

"Printing" remains displayed and FAX is not output

            Details

            [Symptom]

Printing remains displayed, and the FAX is not output (the warning that too much paper has been loaded is not
            displayed).

When the number of pieces of paper set in the paper tray exceeds the maximum number (when it exceeds the
maximum displayed) and a FAX is received in the tray, Printing remains displayed, and the device does not print.
(The warning that too much paper has been loaded is not displayed, and Printing remains displayed.)
It is possible to cancel the printing.
If the number of pieces of paper is adjusted to within the specified number of pages in the paper tray, it prints.
            [Reference]
When copying, if Too much paper is loaded or the paper is not set correctly is displayed, and the user continues
to use the paper tray as is, the wrench mark is displayed on the paper tray.
On the printer, Set tray * correctly is displayed. (* is the tray number.)
            Answer
            [Cause]
It is a FAX application warning (too much paper loaded warning) leak.
It is normal for paper not to be output from a tray that has more paper set than the specified maximum.
            [Resolution]
Adjust the amount of paper set to the appropriate level (below the 1. maximum displayed).
            2. Instruct the client not to set paper in excess of the maximum number of pages displayed.

I've had this before, the cusomer had 2 identical machines. When I put the GW board with fax option in the other machine it printed the faxes out. If I remember correctly it was the IPU board causing the problem.
                Good luck, Mark.

                  On the TSC site.

I used "Fax won't print" as a search phrase in the Global Knowledgebase.

It may be faster to use the answer ID number, though, which is 89311.

                  I hope that's it!

The Above post about too much paper in the tray happened to me on that exact model. Removing a bit of paper fixed it. Go figure.

I went there today and wouldn't you know it, it was working perfectly. The faxes were programmed to go into the internal tray (has a bridge) but I checked the full switch to make sure it was free, blew out the photocell, updated the engine firmware. Then after checking with the customer, programmed the faxes to go into the finisher proof tray. I am pretty sure this is the area of trouble. I think Ken was spot on.
                        Thanks for all the info.
