Problems with MAC OS and MP C2800

I am waiting to here back from Ricoh technical support on this but will see what this forum may provide. We recently installed a MP C2800 with an SR790 Finisher. As a copier and Windows based printer it works fine. On a MAC OS (10.5) when it copies STAPLED/COLLATED sets it copies them ALL as 1 set and staples them together (as an example, if you ask for 4 sets of a 2 page collated document stapled, all 8 pages will be collated together and stapled as 1 set). The SR790 Finisher has the latest frimware version (B4085162). Sorry, did not run unstapled/collated sets from the MAC driver.
We have since installed a new SR3050 Finisher (in place of the SR790 Finisher) at the customer site with the same results as above. The customer has reloaded the MAC driver from the Ricoh site with the same results. All firmware on the MP C2800 is up to date (except for what is called Subsystem Firmware - version F.13 is installed). Any ideas?

I had a customer report a similar problem on an AF2105 with SR5000. Happened twice (only) in 6 months and cannot be easily reproduced. Also, I believe the machine is running only from a PC using Windows. Re-running the same document on which the fault occured will not cause the same problem!..mmmmm...

it sounds like a problem with the ppd, did you watch to see if the customer downloaded the the right ppd and not downloaded the fiery ppd? and is the right finisher set in options setting? these are the only things I would check first. Good luck.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.

To help isolate the problem, you might be able to load GhostScript on the Mac and allow it to load it's driver. This will by-pass the PPD file and use a PCL emulator to compile the print job. Usually on a PC, you would change drivers and in this case it's a little limited in options. GhostScript is about as close to this method as I can think of.

Give it a shot and see what happens. Ghostscript | Get Ghostscript at SourceForge.net
Just scroll down to where you see it compiled for the Mac OS X.
