    MP7500 - SC620 with Finisher?

I've got an MP7500 which gives me an SC620 when I connect the finisher (the machine standalone works just fine). But the manual tells me the SC620 relates to a communication failure with the ARDF?

What the heck, what do I got here, a case of mistaken identity?

Could be it's the wrong finisher for that model. Or, the right finisher but the wrong firmware revision. What model is it?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Lemme see... It's a B700 finisher with a B704 cover interposer. Oddly enough, the finisher firmware doesn't show up on the list when I update the machine, even though I checked and double-checked that I have the firmware on the SD card.

This finisher (SR980) is Venus (3260 and MPC6000/7500) only apparently. Compatible finishers for MP7500 are SR841, 842, 4000 and the Plockmatic.

So you mean that, before I came to this machine (it's the first time I'm messing with it) some jackass swapped the machine with a non-compatible one?

Great way to start a week!

Maybe. According to the service manual frontpage this finisher isn't compatible with the Martini C3 anyway.

According to the Product Support Guide for the MP 7500 the B700 Finisher (SR 4000 Booklet Finisher) is compatible with this machine.

The descrition of the problem says BICU ADF communication/timeout error.
The problem says "After 1 data frame is sent to the FINISHER MBX, an ACK signal is not received within 100mS, and is not received after 3 retries".
The possible causes listed are: (1) serial line connection unstable; (2) external noise on the line.

I've just had a look at the peripherals section of the manuals. It lists the B700 finisher TWICE. It may be the finisher is internally the same but has different control boards.

                  Might be worth checking.

Yes. Apparently the B700 is the SR970/SR980/SR4000. However, all 3 appear to be compbatible with the MP 7500. Here is the latest (I believe) firmware history for that finisher.

You're right - I just looked at the first line, "BCU ↔ ADF communication/timeout error". Seems like a typo.

Looks like we'll never know what caused this - the machine is going to be stripped out of the finisher and is getting an output tray.

                        Cheers!

We're trying to recover this finisher nonetheless. Anyone has the SR4000/B700 firmware handy?
