    AF MP171spf offline

    Hi.
    I need your help...................................

Our networked Ricoh MP 171 devices go offline after one print job.

The Windows 2003 Server printer share shows a status of offline.

The Ricoh Web Admin page shows a status of Ready.

To fix this we have to restart the printer spool service on the W2K3 server with the share.

The same problem will occur over and over essentially only allowing one print job before the spooler needs to be reset again.

So the spooler on the server is stopping? I'd update the driver on the server and make sure you're using the right one for the network machines (XP, Vista, etc.) Also check to see if there are any Windows updates waiting to be done. Sometimes that causes strange printing anomalies.

Also, for testing purposes you can load the driver locally on a few machines to verify it's a server based problem.

        The drivers are the corrects,

But I think that is the problem in the the server.
Because when I restart the spooler this fuction a minute.

        Thanks.

i have seen this behaviour, because an ip was double assigned. Happens, when they start the big plotter, then suddenly the litte mfp went offline. Check it out

            The drivers

            Hi.
            Thanks by your post.

I fixed this problem changing the driver to PCL5 y was using the PCL6 and The Universal Driver.

I think that Windows Server 2003 have trouble with PCL6 only with "AF 171"

            With PCL5 I don't have troubles.

            Thanks

Your problem goes for a lot of new machines!
Universal driver sucks ! as well as the newer PCL6 drivers. There are a lot of complaints ! So I use PCL5 for all those new machines and it's okay now.
I even have some customers who use drivers from older machines so it will function on their new machine.......
