One of these machines I work on came up with the SC819 error code. The code does reset so I was wondering if this is a hard drive problem or if it could be something else? And if it is a hard drive problem, could it mean the hard drive is getting ready to go out? Any help appreciated, thank you.

819 usually means the HDD's died altogether. Have you lost the finisher and duplex options? It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Yeah most likely the Hard Drive, just replace them with off the shelf ones. Could also be the dimms, controller, nvram or firmware. I would unplug the HDD first and try rebooting (clean and reseat the dimms while you're at it). If it boots up ok then replace the HDD. If still the error with the drive disconnected, swap out the memory dimms. Try reloading firmware before replacing any other parts.Comment

We found that it is a firmware update.

Corrects the following:
• The machine does not update the address book data after SP5850-3 is executed.
NOTE: This occurs only when the address book data is in the FCU.
• SC990 or SC819 occurs during the copy job if the paper was fed through the bypass tray.

No bulletin on the problem. It is in the firmware history...
