    Remember when we used to work on copiers?

    All this scanning, printing set up, loading drivers, at remote, enablers, etc. I sometimes go all day without turning a screw driver anymore. It's getting to where I need an IT degree to work on these things. Oh and now days you can tack on an extra couple hours for a simple new install.

          Just wait a few years.

          Studies have been done to see what a tech's role will be in the future. It's kinda scary.

          If'n they're right, you'll be trading your tool case for an iPad.

              Not an ipad but I'm seriously considering getting an HP Slate (google it) I think THAT will replace my laptop and will be everything that I need.
              Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

                  I was exaggerating a bit with the iPad.

                  I hear that a number of dealers have already gone with NetBooks.

                  I suppose that this could lead to a new thread, though: What kind of computer do you use in the field, and is it company supplied?

                      We have pretty nice T-60s, but I also have an Acer 8.9" netbook I use sometimes. The netbook is pretty much incompatible with point to points, though.

                          Guys you're way behind... The machines we're working on are Japanese, right? And Japan is the worlds leading tech developer. Before you know it, you're going to have a neuro-interface on the machines so you'll be able to talk to it virtually by just thinking it. Computers... come on! lol
