    MP7000 blowing toner

I've got a customer who's complaining that his machine is all dirty with toner on the right side - even the bypass, according to him, is completely dirty.

I need to gather all the stuff I need in order to go there tomorrow (it's a long trip), but I have no idea of where to start.

Anyone who's got this problem before can give me a hint?

    Cheers!

How many's the machine done? Might be an idea to get a meter reading off the customer then post back, I can give you an idea of what to take with you.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

The machine's total counter is almost at 500k copies (so she's almost new). The PM was made between the 300 and 350k (can't remember the exact value) and at the time it had already shown that symptom - although after a good cleaning per standard PM procedures took care of that, until now.

The customer also says the machine has a stripe roughly at the middle of the copy where it is faint, but I'm assuming that is caused by toner buildup at the laser's protective glass.

It may be a sign the doctor blade's contaminated too. Take a new bag of dev, toner clarification assembly and associated filters. Sounds like the dev unit's puffing.

Sounds like that to me, also. You might check that the development unit filter is in place and intact.

Ditto on the dev filter. I actually had one of these come from the factory with the dev filter missing.

I bet that machine was clean after!

Well, I'm here and it indeed appears that the source of the contamination was the development filter. But the filter is intact, and in place - at least apparently. The lid that holds the filter in place isn't very firmly secure - if I push it down it goes down but then comes back up. Is it supposed to do that? It seems to me that it does, but I'm not sure if, after cleaning and reassembling everything, it will keep clean.

The machine's doing it again. Apparently she's calling for PM also, so that could be part of the problem, but anyway I'm open to any suggestion you guys can come up with.

                  Cheers!

Did you investigate the hopper unit? Does the maschine eventually overtone? what is the vt value? (sp 2223)

When I have had toner all over coming out of the machine and in the bypass it has been the user does not get the toner bottle under the green clip or the clip is broken off.

Toner recycling unit will do this - the mylars strip off and the waste backs up in the tube. 600k part, B0653161.

                          This is a definite possibility
