    SR790 jam .....

    Hi all...

Need some help on mpc3000 with sr790 finisher.......

I have this awsome problem whith finisher - jam continuously only on top output tray as paper( A4 ) comes out halfway it just stops, same with A3 size BUT A5 is working fine, changed output tray to shifttray all works good no problems. Swop finisher with another one and it to do the same problem, I did firmware with no luck I also make sure on paper size settings is correct. Anyone had that before??

    Thanx for feedback...

    Martin

What sort of machine is it attached to?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Hey I had a similar issue and it turn out to be the shift tray lift motor, the problem starts with the jams and as the motor gets worse you will get error codes. the tray doesn't go up and down and that's why it jams.

            Check that

Hi "Copierguy" thanx for this info but its not that.....shif tray work fine, I swoped the finisher with another finisher and still the same. To "Callme" the jam codes is as follows: plotterjam hist = 100 P/jam location ="Finisher entrance" = 104 thats it !!
              Hope that helps !!
              Thanx

Okay, let's go through this. You've said you've swapped the finisher and it's still doing it. That leaves only a couple of things it could be. Firmware, duff finisher connector on the machine, harness connecting finisher connector to BICU and BICU itself.

Update ALL the firmware to latest levels, absolutely everything including the finisher and try again. After that it's board time.

Unless that is - you've two finishers with defective entrance sensors, broken junction gates or missing / disconnected springs!

                  jam 104 is actually
                  Finisher Drive Motor
                  (B408)
Exit guide plate HP sensor does not turn
on or off for specified time.
                  jam 103
Lower tray exit sensor does not
detect paper after the stack feed-out
                  belt has fed paper.

Lower tray exit sensor still detects
paper after the stack feed-out belt

has returned to the home position
                  jam 102
                  Finisher Staple (B408)
Paper does not reach to the staple tray
entrance sensor or stay at the staple tray
                  entrance sensor.
                  jam 101
                  Finisher Shift Tray Exit
                  (B408)
Paper does not reach to the lower tray
exit sensor or stay at the lower tray exit
                  sensor.
                  jam 100
                  Finisher Entrance
                  (B408)
Paper does not reach to the entrance
sensor or stay at the entrance sensor.
so if your jam is 104 then it is not finisher entrance.
pasted out of mpc3000 service manual for you

i had a mad fault like this and it turned out to be the door sns in the bridge unit. It thinks the door opens and happens so fast it does not appear as a fault code or on display.
If not then i would go for IO pcb .

                    good luck
