User code pop-up with print in black and white

I did an install at a customer who's IT provided us with a driver to install. The driver was configured to have a pop-up like you can do with the default editor but it also has a button to click that will just print the job in black and white. Anyone know how to do this ? It was with the MPC2500 driver.

Did the popup look like this?

If so, it's a chargeable customization from Ricoh.

(I found this on the internal Ricoh:Net site.)

Yeah that was it, that way really makes the most sense too bad you can't do it with any driver.

Just having the popup for the user code doesn't save many clicks. If the driver is defaulted to B&W you need to go to properties, set it to color then print, get the pop up, then put in the code. All that saves is clicking on valid access and putting in the code.

Shouldn't I be able to use the packaging tool with a customized driver to create a package ? I don't know why I can't figure out how to do it.

The packaging tool tells you how to customize a print driver. But you cannot do as shown above, that is a paid trick Ricoh keeps up their sleeve.

Ok I can't do that but can I edit a driver with default editor then package it up with the packaging tool ?

Not all drivers can be customized, but essentially you install the desired driver, customize it with the defaults editor, save the preferences file, use the packaging tool to create an executable that installs the driver with the desired customizations and defaults. I have has machines where the PCL6 couldn't be customized but PCL5 could. You have to check the read me's to see what is supported, worst case is install and try it. If you just want to do a customization for a customer you run the defaults editor on the client's PC and directly edit it with the tool.

Any the Executable Packaging Pretty Much only Works on XP and I think Vista 32bit. Not sure of 7 32bit. Doesn't work on 64bit systems. Plus with Vista and 7 the end user has to run the package as Administrator.
