i have a brand new 2851, which i have run up and got working but when i put the finisher on, it says that it has a 798 error, i cant find that error anywhere, and dont know what to do. any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Is this the same as the Ricoh 2851? Do you have the service manual? There is a whole slew of 798 codes; is there a sub code to the 798?Totoro -
yeah it is the same, i got a service manual but the only error code i can find is 792, the code on the screen just says '798 finisher error'Comment

In my service manual on page 3-30 SM appendix it says
798 Finisher unit error, level B
The machine cannot communicate with the bridge unit,but not the finisher. I assume the cannot means can.
possible causes:
poor connection between finisher and mainframe
finisher harness damaged or defective
finisher unit defective

fixed it, it was actually the upper tray level switch was in the wrong position, thanks for the helpComment
