    udating firmware

I have many issues regarding connecting the computer and machine for scan to folder or scan to email.
With many kind of model number, in some office we can make a connection, but in other places, it does't work.
Some guys say it is about the version of firmware, so it needs to be updated.
I want to know what is firmware and how to update firmware.

    Thank you.

Firmware is the operating system of the MFP, If the MFP is more than a year old and your network contains Win7 machines, then you may need an firmware upgrade. But usually not other than that. Generally it is more likely to an issue with a firewall, anti-virus or group policy that is blocking SMB.

You don't have a problem with firmware you have a problem with permission on this folder or with security on this folder. There are have many diferent setup on XP os or VISTA and WIN. 7 on the other side.

        Scan to folder issue(s)
Older Ricoh family MFDs do not supprt SMB2.0 Authentication which is the standard for Win 7, hence the firmware upgrade. In an XP/2003 or later domain I would check to ensure digitally assigned SMB communication is disabled in group policy.
Also, it never hurts to ensure the path to the destination and authentication credentials are correct. Tpyos do heppan.....:-)
