[Error Code] Toshiba Estudio 211C with a F10 error?

Does any one know how to remedy this error condition? I have tried to reformat the HDD but it errors out I never get the "wait" after choosing 2 and hitting set. If I need a new HDD does anyone know the part number?

This Parts & Service manual & the Service Handbook can now be purchased for $11.77 and downloaded immediately after payment from The Internet's largest collection of manuals

If it will not you format the drive then it is probably bit the big one.
Pull it and go to any computer store and get one of the same size or slightly larger. (a lot cheaper than ordering one.)
then you will need to do the following:

      * When changing a HDD, do the following operations after replacing a new one.
      1. Formatting of the HDD
      <Procedure>
      (1) Turen ON the power while the digital keys [0] and [8] are pressed simultaneously.
      (2) Confirm that "Test Mode" is displayed on the control panel. Enter the code "690"
and press the [START] key. The display changes to "System Mode".
      (3) Enter "2" and press the [SET] or [INTERRRUPT] key.
      (4) [WAIT] is displayed.
      (5) Turn OFF the power after the message [REBOOT THE MACHINE] is displayed.
      2. Downloading of the UI data
( Chapter. 5 of service handbook)
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Make sure you also go through Assist Mode to partition the HDD as well before the format.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

I have the service manual for the Toshiba estudio 211c/311c as well as the Ricoh Aficio 3131 that is cross referenced to the Toshiba Estudio 211C. I cannot find anything about the assist mode. can you give me a pointer were to look? Much thanks in advance.

Look for the section about replacing the HDD. It will give you step by step instructions on how to do so.
