Ricoh 1075 misfeeds #2

this is a follow up from the last post on this copier where the paper coming from tandem tray was frequently stopping right at the registration rolleras it was being over-fed. I was told to look for leaking developer which was the case. However my cleaning of the paper feed unit didn't help. Should I soak the gears with the one-way bearings??? Is there a certain gear that is causing this problem??? I moved the paper feed aasy from the tandem tray to the bottom tray and transferred the problem.

The paper misfeed on these machines is usually caused by worn out feed rollers or dirty one way bearings. You may replace these bearings (they dont come cheap) or clean them with WD 40. Cleaning usually fixes the problem....but if they are stuffed with developer you may not be able to clean them...

Following a dev spill on the larger machines 1075,2060 and 5500's we nearly always change the gears on the top feed unit as this is the worst affected, the lower paper feed units are usually ok with a clean.

if you're digging around in the feed / registration section, whizz in a set of registration mylars too. It'll thank you for it.

I normally flush the gears through with WD40 then put a drop of 3-in-1 onto each as they go back into their respective positions. However, I have had, twice I believe, the motor go down too following a particularly bad leak. Obviously this needs to be replaced.
