    scan to email 2020D

I've done this on other brands but Ricoh has me buffaloed. So convoluted; I saw somewhere that the existing settings have to be first cleared in service mode, otherwise it won't work.
Is there anything odd/critical apart from the usual email settings (smtp, pop3, user/pswd etc..) and above issue that needs to be set in Ricoh to get scan to email working?

Nothing Really. If you have all that in there what Error are you getting? Choose a Sender? That is easy to fix. Authentication? That is harder.

      This will help

This is the step by step instructions.
      Attached Files
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

        Message I get is:
        "updating destination list has failed"
When I go through web interface email settings require secure password TLS settings
This time it's attempting to send but I get just' error' nothing specific...

Did you check the DNS server address?

You have turned on the DELIVERY OPTION. User Tools, System Settings, File Transfer, Delivery Option should be set to OFF.This is only turned off if using Scanrouter.

this is getting as convoluted as I thought:
I have turned delivery options off (I now understand it's for scan router which is not used)
I was told to use instead of smtp server name its ip - but not confirmed if it's essential - either way, problem persists.
What's the difference between pop before smtp, and how can this potentially conflict with already stringent security policies by the internet provider?
POP3 needs to be configured only when the client is expecting to receive email on the machine, or fax-to-email - otherwise pop3/imap4 server is not necessary
the ISP is using newer security TSL instead of SSL, and ricoh doesn't know anything about it - just setting security to auto should fix this?
If I decide to use web-based email like yahoo or gmail (I have all settings OK), how likely is it the ISP's security will prevent me from sending email?
              This just does not work.
Using any Xerox box is so simple by comparison.
              C'mon Ricoh!

I've not used Xerox and only Ricoh, so it took me a bit to figure out it. IF you can log into the machines web image monitor via its IP address and go to the Email page its a lot easier to setup than via the Touchscreen. Pop before SMTP is rarely used. As for TSL..... Not sure the Ricoh supports that. I guess Auto might work. Most ISP Encrypt the Server such as
pop.copy.com and smtp.copy.com but each server has a port. such as 25 and 110. More and more ISP's are also encrypting those ports. Sooooo if your ports and Servers are encrypted go with the web mail or see if there is an alternative. Ricoh doesn't support port encryption only server encryption you can use the smtp server address or its IP if you know it.

If you have the server name. smtp .whatever.com or mail.exchange.something, for examlpe, you can ping that and get the IP address and use that. if authentication is not required, make sure it is off, if not, it is easier to input the user name and password from the web image monitor.

Here's what internet providers are doing to us:
I had to use smtp relay in order to get it to work; the reason - ports are blocked by ISP. None of the settings (tested on gmail, too with 995 and 465 ports). They likely do it to control spam, but who knows - maybe they do it to hijack anyone into using them as the sole IT support.

It's for Spam. Many ISP's are doing that now. A Copier Doesn't Authenticate the same way a PC with Outlook does. You can have the EXACT Same settings and sometimes it doesn't work. The ISP see's the copier as a spam generation device.

Believe me ISP don't want to be your sole IT Support unless it benefits them on a cost per call basis or some kind of nasty fee.
