Is this displayed on the main screen or under another function? Any of the function keys lit red? It could be something like an internet fax error, global scan, document mall. I'm thinking it could be some kind of fax error, like you have internet fax selected but are not actually using it.
      Check this first...
The Fax User Tools setting, mail setting, internet fax setting should be de-selected, and System User Tools > File Transfer settings and Reception Protocol should be de-selected.

Delivery Option active when there's no server? (User Tools -> System Settings -> File Transfer).

Thanks for the suggestions guys... it doesn't seem to be any of these
It appears as a large box across the main screen and doesn't allow any of the functions to operate.

Any chance WSD scanning is enabled by mistake? It will give a similar error if not configured properly. Did this pop up after some update by either you or the customer? Somewhere the device is trying to communicate with a pc for some particular function and can't. I guess going through all of the settings again might show something. Any kind of authentication services that the customer uses?
Here is how WSD is configured...

Enabling WSD using Web Image Monitor

To use this machine as a WSD scanner, you must first configure the following settings using Web Image Monitor on a client computer:

              • WSD scanner function (default setting: [Off])
Click [Configuration], click [Initial Settings] under [Scanner], and then set [WSD (Scanner)] to [On].
              • WSD protocol (default setting: [Active])
Click [Configuration], click [IPv4] or [IPv6] under [Network], and then enable [WSD (Scanner)].

Use the following procedure to set the WSD scanner function to [On].
On the [Start] menu, click [Network].

Double-click the icon for this machine.

              Click [Login].
The Web Image Monitor login page appears.

Enter your login user name and password in the [Login User Name] and [Login Password] boxes respectively, and then click [Login].
Consult your administrator if you require a login user name and password.

On the menu in the left frame, click [Configuration].

              Under [Scanner], click [Initial Settings].
              The [Initial Settings] page appears.

              Set [WSD (Scanner)] to [On].

              Click [OK].

Hi teebee1234 & Eric1968, just a wee update on this error.. It was caused by the logon password for the services on the server being changed. Thanks for your help!!
