[CQ] MPC 2500 B/W problems very urgent.

    Hi all,

we are having some trouble with a MPC2500 that is having such a big quality unsolved problem.
The problem appears only in b/w. I cannot explain the problem so i attach the copy counter printing.
We swapped Dev Unit and Drum Unit with another MPC2000 but no luck. Laser Shutter has been checked along with firmware. They're ok.
We swapped also other Electronic boards (not the BICU) but no luck. Ricoh Tech (we are indipendent techs) talk about some HDD issue but we're not sure. I read something about NVRAM issue.
    Can You help me.

    thank you very much.

Have you checked developer drive clutch or transfer roller?
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Almost sure that it's the black development clutch. The old AF3228 series could also produce something like this with defective dv-clutches.

The clutch is at the rear side of the machine. Replacement is not such a big deal.

This looks like a classic case of the black transfer roller not in contact with the pcu. Have you checked the ITB unit, specifically the black transfer roller? It should always be in contact with the pcu, the colors cam away when not being used.

most likely, swapped the whole itb unit for faster troubleshooting.

base on the printed counter attached, looks like 90% came from itb unit, that was said before by teebee1234.
check the transfer roller spring for drum black inside the itb unit, if still in good position.

please print also ACC to check if the problem came from color black only..

                        thanks,

                          Try this

Low image density and or missing images

                          Answer [Cause]
The laser optics shutter does not open properly and/or dirty laser dust shield glass blocks or distorts the laser.
                          Firmware bug.
                          [Action]
                          1. Check that Engine firmware is at level 1.11.01 or higher. If not upgrade firmware and recheck image density. If still poor proceed to step 2.
                          • If Engine firmware is below 1.11.01 some field service technicians have had success with:
                            • Check the value of Copy SP Mode 2-914
                            • If lower than try 38 change the value to 38 and recheck image density
                            • If image density is still poor raise to a value of 42 and recheck image density.
                          2. Remove the Laser Unit Assembly and clean the laser dust shield glasses and inspect the laser optics shutters for proper mechanical operation.
                          • Remove the left cover (disconnect the finisher if installed)
                          • Remove the harness cover bracket [B] and rear [C] and front [D] fan brackets
                          • Remove the laser assembly
                          • Remove the shutter assembly
                          • Inspect the 4 shutters for proper mechanical operation, repair or replace as needed.
Clean the 4 dust shield glasses.

                          3. Re-insert the laser unit assembly without the shutter assembly and check image quality.
                          • If image quality is still poor the shutter assembly is not the cause.
                          4. Re-insert the laser unit assembly with the shutter assembly installed and check image quality
                          • If image quality is poor repair or replace shutter mechanism.

                            Thanks to all of you.
I apologize for delay but summer holidays delayed everything. (here in sicily, the sand is better than the toner).
We solved the quality problem changing the Black Dev Clutch (worked immediately).
Laser problem has been checked and excluded from the beginning. Firmware upgraded.

Now we have "black toner pump" problem and sc-672 error code. What a mess, but we'll cope with it.
                            We're professionals. :-)

                            Thanks again.
