Ricoh 1232C Did we kill them?

OK so we had 2 1232C copiers in the warehouse that I needed service info from. They were not close to electrical so I ran an extension cord to them, fired em up and got into the service mode. I was checking the maintenance counts and poof, the machine shuts off. Did not know what happened and could not get it to come back on so I went to the next one and went thru the same procedure and at about the same time this machine shut off as well. I have checked all the fuses and everything seems ok. Did we blow the power supplies by turning them on when hooked to the extension cord? Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.
    Thanks!

I wouldn't think that would be the case but 1) the power cord for those can easily come unplugged from the machine and still look plugged in. Its happened to me in the shop. (2), there is a circuit breaker next to the power cord that may have tripped.

Not impossible, since SMPS will draw more current when connected to an excessively low voltage such as you would create through the introduction of a long or too light an extension. I find it hard to believe the power supply wouldn't be designed to protect itself against such a condition, but then again we are talking about Ricoh here .

Thanks for the reply, however, the 1232C does does have the removable power cord and also no circuit breaker. At least not one I can find.
I suspect power supply failure but found it hard to beleive they would both fail and at about the same time. I have run numerous copiers on this power cord and outlet before to make test copies when machines come into the warehouse. Perhaps no more...at least with the Ricoh's.

I guess that kinda shows just how reliable this model can be. My advice - don't bother with them anymore, just burn the fuckers.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.
