    HDD/Touch screen relation?

    Hey all,

I rcv'd a bunch of Ricoh MP2510's in with the HDD removed, and the touch screens are not not working. Is there any relation to this issue, or is it more likely that they just swapped out the op panels(or were bad from the begining)..... I know there are issues with these touch screens, but wasnt sure if the HDD(or lack there of) might be causing an issue as well.

There should be no issue with the HDD removed aside from missing functionality. I've noticed an increase in the number of touch panels we are installing that I'm going to suggest is related to the ambient humidity accelerating the failure of the glue on the touch panels. Bear in mind there are a ton of those that will need the updated panel, you just may need to replace them (just the touch screen, H310-9900, this is the # on the voluntarily issued replacements not the regular order #).

We had a machine (AF1224) which seemed to have a "Black panel"

It turned out to be a bad controller memory dimm (we think) One of our guys (smartass!) tried the "1993" panel setup and even with the bad memory in the panel would come to life and allow the various tests! as soon as the mode was exited the panel would revert to black.
With the dimm removed the display would come on and the machine would boot to SC672.

      Worth a try??

Interesting. Though you wouldn't think it would matter, we had a MP5000 2 weeks old HD go bad. Unplugged drive, but then when machine went to sleep mode it would never wake up lest you turn off machine plug in HD. turn it on, get SC, turn it off, remove HD, boot machine.

Mmmmmm.. I'm sure there was a firmware update on various machines for that problem! (Sleep, no wake up) But I agree, it could be the HDD... actually, now I recall an AF2090 which did something similar (freezing at boot) on the first morning after install!!

I don't think the MP2510 wasn't included on the touch screen mods list. Anyway, it is a possibility they've robbed the touch screens to get others working, they would possibly fit the Adonis.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.

I know it's affected wether it's on the list or not (which it was on the list I was provided), I've changed a ton on them. Canada wide there was about 14,000 or so panels issued. H310's (mostly) and B223's. There are cases in the branch still awaiting installation but we have been too busy to go at it proactively, so it is fit on failure. Lately that means about two or three per week for me alone.

We are having a slow call week and yet what we are getting in are touch screen problems.

Where did you get this part number? I don't recognise it from Parts man's or Ricoh web

That's the part number for the part provided free of charge to address the issue. You cannot order by that number. Order by the parts catalog number if for some reason Ricoh isn't providing replacements in your area.
