MPC 2500 someone changed admin in ....??How to reset NVRAM

    Hi there,

I have a RICOH MP C2500 and someone in the firm has changed the usual "admin"

and leave the password "blanc"..... into something else......

We can ' t change the settings for the machine no more...how do I reset this (clear the NV ram was I told by a friend technician)

Did the SP 5- 801-001, .. (All clear,execute,... I thougt this was the NV ram clear...) and yes I, did the printout of the SMC reports....so I can put it all back grrrr...

But the unknown username and- password wasn 't set to the default "admin"..

I tried also "supervisor" in web image monitor...no effect,

    any idea 's....?

    Please help.

    Thanks already.

Call a tech. If he verifies your story, he can get into the machine.

      Hi Jomama46,

As you maby have noticed I am a tech.

But not so good in these "software "things"

The machine is also very new for me, I have not the backup of a big firm.... (independent tech who schools himself in the evening

      and weekends....)

      Can you help please ?

      Thanks

How would I have noticed that? Why not ask your "friend technician"

I've had this issue on quite a few models. On the Ricohs, if the default has been changed and you cannot get it from whomever you purchased it from, then you have to replace the NVRAM PCB and reload all the info/settings.

If the supervisor account doesn't work, then the NVRAM must be replaced. Backup the contents of the NVRAM to an SD-card and reload the settings to the new NVRAM.

Fix for this ....= You will have to change the NVRAM as Eric1968 mentioned. No other way.............

Have you tried to log in as supervisor and no password. This should give you the rights to change or edit the admin loggin.

Wouldnt loading the old data from the old nvram load the unknnown passwords onto the new nvram? Just curious.

                      Goruler,,, good one.
I have loaded a NVRAM settings from 1 machine to another (same machine of course). Had to load the serial number in and bring back reg but it worked okay and still does to this day. It is not recommended but did work. You have to buy a new NVRAM so you have nothing to lose. Worth a try

Jomama, that will not work. The password is stored in a specific area of nvram not accessible by any sp mode. It's not even accessible in factory mode. Eric1968 is correct. Supervisor login is your only hope.
Ricoh & Microsoft may pay the bills but Un*x saves my ass every day.

Yep ! Did this a few months back, the supervisor code had been changed, so new nvram, all well, load old backed up data & guess what, all passwords back to not default. Had to fit another nvram & manualy check non default data.

Print SMC. no need to buy a new NVram just take it out and desolder the battery, wait a wail and then solder. input serial number and all non standard settings by hand. Remember that your
