    Ricoh 1075 series of errors sc672 sc 818 sc819

Reading the previous posts, I've unplugged hdd and checked operation.
I managed to get one copy without hard drive.
When restarted again, problem sc 818 only persisted every time.
Swapped DIMMs 128mb, same problem. Tried without DIMMs - same problem - with or without hdd.
Any clues? perhaps no DIMMs gives sc 818 problem, so DIMMs is the solution afterall - any thoughts appreciated.
    Thx,

If you have the means to reinstall the firmware from an IC card, you might try that. It sounds like your controller is toasted, though.

One of our techs just had the same issue with the SC818. He took the controller apart, checked, and reseated everything. It worked for a few copies and then the code returned. He swapped the controller with a boneyard machine and it came back to life.

Actually, it turned out to be sdram dimm, the top of the two (which strangely is called dimm2). I shoved one of my own, which was PC2700 instead original PC2100 and it all works great. Thanks for the input

Glad you got it fixed. I may have read your first post wrong, but didn't you install new memory to begin with?

Thanks for the comments/suggestions. ON my first call @ the site I didn't have any dimms with me, just monkeying around with old ones, swapping them, booting without them.
Kinda guess work at the first call; I noticed something like spilled glue on the dimm, and that led me to experimentation. It was the dimm, all's fine now.

The problem is back! I disconnected everything, dimms and pc133 ram, hdd, sd card - within about 10-15 after 'please wait' machine goes SC672. After I replaced dimm2, it worked for a few thousand copies.
I checked for pinched wires, removed tandem tray for the same - it all looks fine. I reseated all connectors on controller board, main board. I have actually swapped display board from another machine - the problem persists.
I can't save existing settings or anything.
How do I preserve/save current firmware, and load a new one? Manual says
"Hold the SD card [A] (the surface with
printing must be away from the front of
the machine), and install the SD card in
                      slot C3 [B]."
Does this mean take the existing card from slot A and move it to slot C3? Or take existing card from slot A and put new card with new firmware to slot C3?
I'd better ask before I screw it up, never done this before.

its a heck of a job with the sd cards, try using a laptop to upgrade your firmware, use the remote version i bet you'll get somewhere had a similar prob.
                        gud luck

The 1075 is a B065 and DOES NOT use an sd card to update firmware. You have to use an IC card and MCE to write the new firmware data to the card.

Sorry I failed to mention the specific model is actually 2075sp, in1075 ' series' as I put it.
I heard there is a way to ' remote' upgrade- not using sd card, which apparently is a preferred method (ethernet, usb?)
How do I save existing settings/firmware before I go into the rabbit hole of experimenting?

you really don't have to save the existing firmware what you do is print out your sp data list which has the same,sp5990-1,when you upgrade through the web browser go to configurations after downloading the latest firmware which you save on your pc,
                              hope that helps
