    MP161 with SC819

Hey folks, checked the site for related sc819 but still had to post.

I've a MP161 that inexplicably started throwing an SC819. I've replaced the Print/Scan SD, reseated the ram (but haven't replaced) and replaced the GW controller, all to no avail. I have a BICU coming but wanted to see if I missed anything. How best does one troubleshoot a SC819 or similar code?

There is an RTB out about SC819 (RTB7). Upgrading the firmware should resolve the issue.

SC819 (Kernel mismatch error) occurs if IP-FAX is not used for a long
time while the Wireless LAN and fax are installed.

appreciate the response, and I had seen that RTB. I don't have a wireless card in the system so I had ruled that out. Installed new PC133 128 ram stick today and resolved the issue.

        Re: MP161 with SC819

Hello, could you tell me where the 128MB DIMM is located? I am also having a SC819 and swapped controllers but the code did not go away. When I take the front plate off the controllers I see that both the original and the swapped controller have a slot for a memory card but neither one has a card installed. So, I am thinking the DIMM is somewhere else? I can't see where though. I also read that a 5990 report can help pinpoint the issue, I can print it out but I don't know where to look for the info on the report. Any help appreciated!

P.S. I can swap out the BICU main board that is located behind the controller with a known good spare if that would be a possible cause?

What model is your machine? Base, SP or SPF?

Normally the DIMM is installed if a print option is present. If the machine is a base model it would not have the DIMM.

The DIMM slot is at the lower part of the controller, once the metal shield cover is removed.

It is a full SPF with scan, print, fax, copy. I wonder if someone took out the DIMM in both controllers then, I will get a DIMM and check it and see. Thanks!

I installed a known working DIMM from another working MP161 and still the SC819. Should I assume it is the BICU? Thanks again.

I found out my problem, the controller did not have a memory card and so I installed a 128MB card but that still gave me the code. I installed a 256MB card and that worked.

I really really wanted to try upgrading my machine's firmware. but regarding the process/procedure, i have no idea. i just hope that someone could have time to post it even just for this machine...because i am still hoping that one day my machine would be okay.
