Ricoh 1060 waste toner gears jumping

    Hi guys,
I have said machine that has the problem of the waste toner gears jumping, even though the tube is not blocked or even stiff for that matter. Its the clear one at the front of the drum unit that has two helical style gears on, i have managed to stop the problem by modifying the tube by elongating the holes in it, but is this neccessery considering i have fitted all parts concerned i.e. tube, bushing and gears and cleaning spiral?

You can just get away with fitting the gears, they do wear down after a while. If the tube is rotating freely, just change the gears and vac the living hell out of the PCU. That'll sort it.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Usually it's the auger spring inside the drum station (drives the waste toner to the front) that twists about, that will cause the whole thing to jump around. Look inside and see if you find hard chunks in the auger area. If so, then you have a ventilation problem - check you fans and filters.

The auger in the main pcu was stuffed, but that was not the problem as when i had replaced the main auger the gears at the front still did not mesh correctly (even the tube was vacuumed) It has nothing to do with the main auger in the pcu, rather the outside toner recycling tube drive gears (no toner clog)

ditto this. the 2 helical gears will wear out. replace those, and vac the exterior tube, and you should be ok. i have also replaced the lower pcu if everything is really bound up or jumping about.
