[Misc] Af 2238c prints one particular PDF document in color rather than black

My customer receives a PDF document and sends it to the Ricoh printer. The Ricoh af 2238c uses all colors to produce grey print Rather than black. The yellow, more than any other color, is offset enough to make a shadow appearance.

I think it must be a problem at the point of generation rather than in my printer or her computer. She indicated that the one document was the only one that did this. I failed to ask her what version of Adobe Reader she is using and I don't have any other questions to ask. What can I tell her so my Aficio is not suspect? (or is it?) Thanks for any help, Sam

Always an awkward situation this, ask if she will e-mail the PDF to your office, and you print it, and see the output, or if she can direct to another printer. Are any other PDF's she has doing the same, basically try and isolate the suspect PDF

Check what driver she is using, and maybe change it, is it the the driver RPCS, i have had trouble with PDF's with that, and have chaged to PCL.
    Hope this helps

I agree with daveyball. Also is the printer configured to print in colour or black and white in the printer settings. I usually set up the same machine twice, one colour and one black/white so in effect the customer has 2 printers but only 1 physical machine. They can the print to whatever printer suits their document!
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

I agree, the problem is likely to be with just that individual file. She will have to find out who created the file and whether they restricted it to only print in B/W.

Have her open the file and go File-> Properties
        There are 4 tabs there
Description tab will tell you things like the author, application version, and PDF version. Have her contact the author to find out if they restricted printing.
