I have a Gestetner 3265 that gives an error SC 590-00 on power up, and it tells me to call a service rep. The last tech who looked at it said it was the developer unit. I get the impression that the machine is trying to tell me something. Can anybody help? -- Doug McNeil

Problem solved.
My problem turned out to be simply that the waste toner bottle was completely full. I thought that condition was supposed to give a different error message, and it wasn't on the list of possible causes for the SC590. But as soon as I emptied the bottle the error code went away, and I haven't seen it since. So thanks for the help -- it told me where to start looking -- and I hope that this update helps someone else. -- Doug McNeilComment

A completely full waste toner bottle could of caused to much torque on the coil.
So that would come under 'too much load on the drive mechanism' I guess.
Look at possible causes more as guidelines rather than being set in stone.- Knowledge not shared, is eventually knowledge that becomes lost... like tears in the rain.

I got to thinking, why didn't the red "full toner collection bottle" light come on? The service manual says "When the toner collection bottle becomes full, the toner pressure in the bottle increases and presses the gear [H] against the toner overflow switch [I]," which is supposed to turn on the light. So I thought maybe the switch is bad, and I opened the back and cheated the switch with a piece of cardboard, and sure enough the light came on. I guess the switch just wasn't being pressed, but there doesn't seem to be any mechanical adjustment for it. -- DougComment
