Ricoh MP4500 Print scan not showing up.

I am working on a Ricoh MP4500, I am installing the Scan option into this machine. I removed the Print/Scan from a Savin 8035e. Did service mode 5985 setup to 1 and the machine is still not Showing the option as installed.

Did you take the memory DIMM across with the rest of the kit?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

Yes, it has a 128MB PC 2100 memory module that went with it.

According to the installation procedure in the service manual the DIMM must be 256MB. The SD card must be installed in slot 1 of the controller.

I just tried the 256MB PC2100 dimm chip, it is still not recognizing the print/scan option. Any other Ideas?

            your help is much appreciated.

Does the machine show the print scan option in SP modes or user tools?

just a thought... this is a Savin branded sd card.... maybe it will not accepted by a Ricoh branded model

If you did all the instalation right, and i think you did, it is not that hard (insert the sd card in slot c1, add 256m memory chip), this could be possible.

There are 2 base models, the "basic copier" which can be upgraded with the "printer/scanner unit type 4500" and the "RPCS print model" which can only be upgraded with "Network Enhancement Kit Type 4500" to allow scanning and PCL printing- you would merge those options onto the RPCS card. Are you sure you have the basic copier model? Did the MP4500 have a RPCS printer card in it previously? I would think if it had the RPCS card in it you could remove it and put in printer/scanner card type 4500. What was the configuration of the MP4500 before you started (was there a printer button on the control panel)?

Ok, it is later than tomorrow, but I am back at this machine. How exactly do you tell that it is the RPSC basic model. I have a feeling that is the cause of my troubles in this case.

Is there a printer key on the device and if so does it bring up the printer screen when you press it? If so, go into user tools and print out the configuration page and check the printer languages available (near the top).

Had a problem last year when a "Salesman" sold an MP5000B with a BOOKLET finisher attached (!).... Took about 6 weeks and a load of hassle to get the machine to the correct spec to be able to actually produce magazines!! (The B model doesn't have the memory to do s**t!)
