You can setup scan to email but to scan to folder you will need ScanRouter lite. I have tried using wine on CentOS but it was a no go. Email is pretty much your only option. The operators manuals are available on many of the Ricoh sites and the setup for email is in there. Good LuckKittens give Morbo gas.

No reason that you can't scan to folder in Linux. In fact, I have a customer scanning to folders on a Fedora Linux machine with no issues at all.
Of course, the 1224 can't scan to folder - email only.
