Look at the jam history, I think its 7507. It will give you the history of the last 10 jams . Use this number and refer to 7504. This will tell you which function is causing the problem.sigpic

I dont know what the "dongle " is but to get into service mode you only need your service manual. Maybe you need a tech.sigpic

Thanks for that! I'm still wading though the 900 odd pages of the manual, so haven't quite got there yet! OK, seem to have found out how to enter service mode and I'll pop the codes I find. I'm just after some guidance here. If the fix requires a tech, then that's the route I'll go down. Just trying to mitigate costs up-front!

OK, found and entered service mode for the copier (seems not to be covered in printer..)
for:
Latest CODE:063, SIZE:05h, TOTAL:0455086.
Latest 1 CODE:063, SIZE:05h, TOTAL:0455046
the remainder of the 8 in the history are the same as Latest 1.
What does it all mean? Is this buried i the manual somewhere too?
Thanks,

Hi, I did read the sig..saw it quite a while back..I'm not completely useless from a tech front..have a Masters Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering, have build, design and programmed crypto and all sorts of other things...just not copiers and printers!
Hopefully I'll get to understand and then fix the issue..

Pity about the 600 bucks - this machine is one of ricoh's worst constructions and I'm glad that we have almost no more of these left in the field. Years ago it was kind of a full time job to keep these up and running - I don't mind work but servicing this series was a pain in the ass. Well... enough ranting, sorry..
Jam code 63 means "registration off" = the paper didn't reached the registration sensor
This is usually caused by a faulty registration- or intermediate drive-clutch. I'd go for the reg-clutch first because IIRC the intermediate-drive clutch isn't relevant for the 1st drawer paper feed process.Comment

referring to 7504, 063 is the paper not leaving the registration switch, 05h is the paper size and the rest is the meter count when the fault occurred. The most obvious thing would be that the registration clutch is not turning and therefore the paper stays on the photocell and as the roller is not turning it folds up. Recove the rear cover and check the operation of the clutch. You can also check the coil of the magnetic clutch with the output checks.sigpic

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the guidance here. I see the truth of it, so will have a look at the clutch. I guess I can find one on the web, but if you have any good parts sources (UK) I would be very grateful!
Ironically, it's working fine today...evil, possessed machine!
I have noted the outpouring of joy when these machines are mentioned. Kinda wish I know about this site when i was looking about. I really did want something that would print A3 colour/duplex scan A3 too. It seemed to fit the bill for that. Budget's tight so that box was ticked too.
Pity the general consensus is it's a bag of ...
Have a great w/e chaps, I'm off for a beer here in the sunny UK. I'll raise a toast!
