    Ricoh Gelsprinter Aficio GX3000 Error 990

    Hi, i have this printer that was working fine, until the black cartridge was empty.
    I left the machine unused for 1-2 months searching around for this inks that are difficult to find, i put the new cartridge of black color and... the display still says "ink depleted", does an head cleaning and after some minutes come out with an Error 990, call service. Called service; they said buy a new printer. I have no intention to buy a new printer after less than a printed ream of paper
    What's this?

      There is a mechanism that cleans the printheads and gets the waste ink into a reservoir that has gummed up. These POS printers *must* be used regularly or this *will* happen. The month or two sitting is what killed it. I know there was some improvement in the assembly coupled with firmware. I was tasked with taking care of replacing one under warranty, not a pretty job. These printers are targeted towards business colour users who are doing 500 to 1000 pages per month, outside that band of usage is inviting issues.

              Look at this... the capping station disappeared! Maybe it is sticked to the printing head... great!
              Anyone ever took this printer apart or has a service manual?
              Do you think i have chances of revive the printer?

              Anyway this gel ink is terrible, i cleaned the waste around the MY capping head and it looks like vinyl glue! They should tell clearly that this printer MUST print everyday!

                      Ricoh support told me that the empty capping station for the black/cyan head is designed to be empty.
                      Can it be true? Anyone with this printer can confirm this? It looks impossible, but I never paid attention to that detail...

                              No, I bought a new one

                              And, in the new one, also the capping station it's like that, so I was worried for nothing

                                  Error 990 in gx3000 would print head dirty dirty + belt + ink deposit
