Create a domain user account for the copier with a password that will not expire. Give the account rights to read and write for all directories that scan folders will be set up on and plug the user name and password into the default sender area of Scanner Features for SMB.

I agree. Make sure you aren't trying to use the Administrator account, it will fail to authenticate.
