Is the offset in main scan or sub scan direction? Does it happen during copying or printing?

Have you run colour registration adjustment and ACC in user tools? First place for an end user to start. If that doesn't work, call a tech.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

Can you post a scan of the problem? What's the status of the black drum?

hi eric, when i convert from pdf or tif to jpg you can't see the problem, it's actually about a 1/2 mm offset. i have replaced pcu and dev.

When it's just a small offset, could it be that this offset falls outside the machine's specifications? I mean, halve a millimeter isn't much.

i look after quite a few of these machines and find them quite good. never seen this issue before. if i sent you a pdf you would definitely see the problem. it make text blurred.ive always been able to manually adjust colour registrations when needed but this doesn't seem to be a registration problem, more to do with the dual beam laser in the black and white mode.

hmmm, i have always associated dirty laser mirrors to a light print out, but i guess i will have to pull it apart to confirm either way.i can check out the laser adjustment assembly as well. thanks,

Sorry, I'm confused, the black text is blurred? This is on black only, not composite black?

If it's in the subscan direction then the ld unit wouldn't be the problem, it affects main scan -front to rear. The subscan is a product of the drum rotation, so I would look at the black drum/dev drive. Is the 'offset/blur' repeating itself? If so you should be able to determine what component is causing it by measuring the distance between them (print a test pattern on 11x17).
