White bands on MPC4000 series from dev box

    hi all
i've noticed that the dev boxes on those series are a pain in may ass
they produce without any reason after pcu change sometimes white bands
and sometimes without any change of pcu

if you take the dev box you can actually see where the lines are on the dev rol.

i' allready try with a mylar between the dev rol and doctor blade but without any result

i change the dev box than and problem solved

i known there is a tool like a mylar on older series of martini i tought to clean the gap between rol and doctor blade for any obstruction but I lost the partnumber

any help here or tips are welcome

There's no other way of fixing the banding problem without replacing the developer. You don't have to change the entire dev unit, just the powder. Make sure you give it a good vac tho.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I have emptied the developer onto a couple of 11x17 sheets and folded and crushed all the bits till I dont find any. Then pour it all back in. It usually is a good temp fix till I can get a bag of dev.
Ricoh & Microsoft may pay the bills but Un*x saves my ass every day.

If you empty out the dev unit without turning the dev roller into the wrong direction the particles should keep stucking at the doctor gap. You can vac out the unit properly and re-use the dev. Of course there's a risk that the problem reoccures but it's worth trying if you don't have any dev in your car stock. There's also an official tip turing the mag roller clockwise and counterclockwise a couple of times to crush the pieces but that's usually not more than a temporary fix.
